Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
